It's not perfect ~ Remember it's a 'demo', and that I do this (music) to bring the song to life, to give birth to the song, and to please myself, first and foremost.. 'Castles' chose to put itself forward as the song I began to relearn my craft with.. Yes, it's 'busy' ~ challenging perhaps.. this is intentional ~ this is my way, I like to see how far I can take weaving melodies, riffs counterpoint.. (perhaps my next recording might be something simpler) 
So ~ Public Health Warning: This recording will rearrange your brain. It's gonna slice your mind up and rearrange it, and either your brain will all slot back together nicely and you'll be a better person for it or it'll disintegrate completely. Hence the public health warning.. ;-)
I've tried to make this as interesting as possible, writing new parts for the song, while keeping the essential spirit of the song.. originally pretty much a rock~pop song ~ You'll hear something new every time you listen to it.. You'll see.. Or rather.. You'll hear.. 

 

I've used 'Castles' as a vehicle to return to music.. and in re-recording and rewriting this song I've undergone a huge learning curve.. Ableton, Cubase 12.. Re-Learning how to sing.. how to play.. how to record.. feck.. what a game.. But I'm getting back into the swing of it again.. 
Strangely I haven't had to 're-learn' composition, ~ as I've stated elsewhere, I don't write the songs, ~ they write me, or rather, they write themselves..

My mind, heart and soul.. Freshman acoustic guitar, Behringer B5 and C2 Microphones, Yamaha MG10XU Mixer, Novation Launchkey mkIII, Ableton Live Lite 11, Cubase AI 12, a lot of thought.. many many listens.. huge learning curve, shitloads of patience.. countless problems and glitches, technical crises.. and most importantly.. huge dollops of Love.. 
I forgot to mention: Time. This recording has taken a long time because I've had to relearn everything. So this process began, again in June 2023 when I acquired the Novation keyboard along with Ableton plus my Yamaha mixer, along with a copy of Cubase, all of which I've had to learn.. The learning curve has also included learning to sing and play guitar again (!), and learning how to record.. So, yeah, time.. and love..
